Mr and Mrs A……,
both in full-time retail jobs, got into difficulties when they
took out a further advance of £20,000 to build an extension.
Their builders were unsatisfactory and so they had to start again
with new builders. As the costs mounted up, they had to pay for
materials and labour 'up front' and could not afford their new
monthly mortgage payments. Their payments became so erratic that
their lender sent them a letter insisting they pay all the arrears
with interest, or be taken to Court for repossession.
Mrs A….. became ill with worry and could not work. This couple
contacted us the day after they had been given a Repossession
Order. They were unable to pay, so we found them a buyer, enabling
them to move to a more affordable property. The threatening letters
stopped and we enabled them to stay in their home mortgage free,
until it was convenient to move, thus avoiding more trauma and
expense.
Mr. F….., a 42 year old factory worker in Sheffield, got
made redundant just after he had taken on a further advance to
pay for a conservatory and a car. We were able to find a buyer
for his house and arranged for him to stay there rent-free for
5 months. He then took a job in Carlisle and was able to buy a
house the following month.
Mrs. C…., a self-employed gardener, got in to arrears because
she injured her leg and could not work for 4 months. She just
needed a bit of time, but her lender's solicitor required her
to attend a repossession hearing. Repossession Rescue were able
to find a purchaser for her house, pay off her arrears and give
her a 6 month breather from payments.
She was able to get back to work and sort out her finances, without
having to disrupt her son's education. She is now rebuilding her
credit rating and they are currently thinking of moving to France.
Without Repossession Rescue they would have been homeless.
Mr. W….., 82
years old had a stroke and had to go into immediate care, costing
nearly £1,000 a month. His son tried to sell his house but
it was too neglected to attract buyers. Repossession Rescue found
a cash buyer for his fathers' house and in 3 weeks he had the
cash in his account, which enabled him to start paying for his
fathers' long-term care.
